What divides by 0? Well apparently nothing, just ask Ms. Dewees. The second we see a 0 in the denominator we can assume that the derivative or limit does not exist, it’s undefined. How unfortunate it would be to be a number that has been divided by zero. To be told that you are meaningless and inconsequential just because “math” tells us so. Why is this? How do we explain this injustice? I believe that it’s because the early mathematicians knew that zero would become much too powerful if allowed to be a dividend. Hear me out. What happens when you multiply a number by zero? That’s right, it becomes zero. What happens when you divide zero by another number? It becomes zero. Somebody long ago realized that zero would have too much influence on our math and therefore removed its ability to be divided by. Justice for zero I say. Return it to its former glory.
