I love movies. I often lose track of time watching them, spiraling down a hole, surfing through various streaming platforms until I manage to convince myself enough is enough. I have always liked them since I was a little kid, but I wouldn't say I became a true movie nerd until I discovered film analysis channels on youtube. Channels such as Lessons from the screenplay, every frame a painting, and nerdwriter pick apart movies and genres, and opened my eyes to how intricate film can be. They taught about direction, style, tone and structure and made me excited to watch movies in a new way. Eventually I started keeping a list of every movie that the channels or critics I followed mentioned or recommended, and that list is now 81 strong. Every-time I watch one, I check it off, but I also keep adding to it as I find more movie recommendations hidden in comments or under reviews for other films. The Golden Globes and Oscars have become my superbowl.
