"t-minus 13 days"
My playlist features five of my favorite songs that give me chills. The playlist focuses on my five main feelings of summer. You know the feeling of summer though, don't you? Everyone does. The weather's warmer. The days of "freedom" grow near. Finals are looming, but for a second, just for a second, you forget. You forget about worries and focus on the future. After one hundred and seventy-seven (or so) days, you get a break. A real one. Seventeen by Sharon Van Etten is my favorite song. It was the first song I wanted to listen to by myself in the car. With the windows down, driving home, music blaring in my ears, I feel that freedom. Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey is different. It reminds me of summer nights in a foreign city. Riding the subway home with your friends, blissfully exhausted. The song pulls on my heart strings a little. summer depression by girl in red reminds me of the end of summer. You know school or work is coming. You want to forget. You float around in a pool by yourself, thinking about what your summer was like. I've shed a tear or two before to this song. It hurts, but in a good way. Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift is the song you'd scream with your friends at the sleepover. You're giddy with love and happiness because of your friends. Maybe you just had a bonfire, or went swimming. The sun has set. You are content. You forget about everything else other than the moment you're currently in. Pretty Girl by Clairo reminds me of summer love. You know it won't last. It'll be fun while it's happening though. Whether or not you two survive the summer, you'll know you've had a wonderful time with them. Summer, at its core, is about doing what you want to do when you want to do it. Your cares are little, your smiles are big, and you, whether you believe it or not, are completely and totally content.
